Fashion Design Student Featured on FOX 26 News
February 26, 2016
Nhi (Nancy) Nguyen, a current student at The Art Institute of Houston, pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design, was recently interviewed on FOX 26 News (KRIV-TV) regarding her designs and experience at New York Fashion Week.
Her path to Fashion Week involved submitting sketches, inspiration boards, and garments to a panel of fashion industry experts. She was one of 13 students and graduates of The Art Institutes system of schools to be featured at New York Fashion Week.
Nhi believes that she was destined to become a fashion designer. Growing up in Vietnam, Nhi watched her mother, a seamstress, turn patterns into beautiful dresses. At the age of 17, she left family and friends and came to America to study fashion.
Nhi’s designs merge sophistication and youthful, feminine, modern sensibility. She’s inspired by fine art, haute couture, and Asian culture. She recently told The Art Institutes’ blog that, “fashion is about hard work. It is about moving forward [and pushing forward with a dream].”
The television interview highlights some of her sketches and designs on live models in New York. Watch the video here: http://www.fox26houston.com/news/95859102-video
