The Art Institute of Houston Hosts Guest Chef in Courses Restaurant
March 18, 2016
Culinary students at The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of Houston recently had the unique opportunity to work with Chef Carmelo Mauro of “Carmelo’s Ristorante Italiano,” located in Austin and Houston, Texas. Chef Mauro has worked for over 30 years in the culinary industry, and shared his insights with students eager to learn from his experience.
Chef Mauro created a menu for the “Guest Chef” event, familiarized the students with his cuisine, and helped the students with prepping. During the event, dinner was served to 84 guests and provided a real-world challenge to the students.
Chef Instructor Patrick Guerra and Front of the House Instructor Christian Enriquez, both from The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of Houston, assisted the students, ensuring that they provided great customer service and delivered delicious Italian cuisine.
The Art Institute of Houston hopes to make the “Guest Chef” event a quarterly tradition.
