Kitchen Manager at Tookies Seafood Restaurant

MaryGrace Tan is a kitchen manager at Tookies Seafood Restaurant. She’s responsible for overseeing the kitchen, coordinating with other managers, ordering supplies, inventory, and scheduling. MaryGrace says that a typical day also involves assisting in food preparation and placing food orders.

MaryGrace, who in 2015 earned an Associate of Applied Science in Culinary Arts from The Art Institute of Houston, says that being active in school activities prepared her to work in a team environment. She was also president of the school’s culinary club and was able to use that leadership role as a stepping stone to a management position in the real world.
