Web and E-Business Analyst, Worked as Web Developer for International Space Station Software Team
Rafael is a web and e-business analyst for NRG Energy Group. He works on the company’s mobile app and website—including its customer interface. “I’m in charge [of] the mobile app, as well as the mobile website for the Reliant (energy) division,” he says. Rafael cites his experience in web development, search engine optimization, and project management as the keys to his success in this position.
Prior to his work with NRG, Rafael overhauled Gulf States Toyota’s digital online presence for optimal performance. “I brought together many different parts to Toyota’s infrastructure for a complete online presence.” Rafael also spent 14 years supporting NASA’s space exploration programs, including the Space Shuttle program at Boeing and the International Space Station. Rafael began his space-related work as a web developer in the avionics and software team for the International Space Station, creating informational internal portals. He later became a senior web developer for the station’s chief engineer’s office.
Rafael, who in 2015 earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Graphic & Web Design, says his education has provided a foundation for his career. Rafael’s web development career began at IBM and he’s used his digital marketing experience to create engaging designs for projects in the aerospace, defense, automotive, banking, chemical, petroleum, education, and life sciences industries.
