What was the inspiration for your work?

Queen Akashaa from Queen of the Damned and the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland.

Explain what we are seeing in the Queen Akashaa piece and how you went about creating it.

I hand cut scales from a vinyl swatch and applied them to a pre-constructed bodice. All materials were sourced through thrifting. The skirt was draped using gold curtains and blue fabric.

(The Mad Hatter piece was created for the Pop Culture Exhibit opening at The Children's Museum of Indianapolis.)
