[My instructors] taught me about business, fashion, and what to—and not to—do. [One of my instructors] helped me with my new business. Genesis Rosales , Owner, Pretty Little Greek Bachelor of Science in Fashion Marketing & Management, 2012 , The Art Institute of Indianapolis
Genesis Rosales is the owner of Pretty Little Greek, a boutique with both a mobile and a brick and mortar location in Bloomington, Indiana. Genesis is in charge of buying, daily operations, social media, and customer service. Before starting her own company, she worked in wholesale, as a freelance visual merchandiser, and a freelance photoshoot stylist. She adds that in her current position, every day is different but includes customer service, utilizing social media, and email.
She encourages current students to stay focused and hustle. “You have to start at the bottom [and] believe in yourself and your worth to get to the top. I worked a lot of hours to get where I am. I made sure I used the fashion industry connections that I have to [help me] succeed.”
At her store, Genesis utilizes interns and college students, who serve as brand ambassadors. “I want to make sure they see every side of the fashion industry.” And she plans to keep her business growing. “I feel like I don't want to stop at just having one location, I want to keep growing and have locations all over the United States.”
Genesis, who in 2012 earned a Bachelor of Science in Fashion & Retail Management from The Art Institute of Indianapolis, says that her instructors taught her about business, fashion, and what to—and not to—do.” She’s kept in touch with her teachers and is proud to say that one assisted in the starting of Pretty Little Greek.
