The Art Institute of California—Inland Empire, a campus of Argosy University, hosted an interactive workshop, “The Business of Art,’ featuring Jeremy Cranford from Blizzard Entertainment, a video game publishing and development company based in Irvine, California.

Cranford has worked in the gaming industry for the past 20 years and currently provides art direction for Hearthstone’s card illustrations. He has also worked as the art director for Hasbro’s top-selling game, Wizards of the Coast’s Magic: The Gathering, developing the artistic inspiration and direction that shaped the game’s aesthetic, from initial concepts to fully realized illustrations. He has previously served on Spectrum’s, Gen Con's and Lucca Overluk art awards juries.

During the event, Cranford walked attendees through some of his experiences and reviewed best practices for freelance artists trying to establish themselves in the game market. The workshop was aimed at teaching students and alumni how to get noticed and stand out in the competitive field of gaming. Over 125 people attended, including Ai California–Inland Empire students and alumni.

Following the main event was a breakout session where attendees could get their portfolios reviewed by industry professionals. The students were given about 5-7 minutes each and had a chance to speak to several artists who gave them valuable feedback on their work.

Helping Cranford to conduct portfolio reviews were the following special guest artists:
