Inland Empire Culinary Students Cater Welcome Reception for State of the City Address
Recently, culinary students from The Art Institute of California—Inland Empire, a campus of Argosy University, catered the welcome reception for San Bernardino Mayor Carey Davis’s State of the City address. Over 300 attendees were at the event, including local government officials and leaders, community and City Council, and law enforcement personnel.
The culinary team created a delicious menu of passed hors d'oeuvres that included smoked pork tenderloin with spiced chevre on crostini; petite meatball, wasabi mashed potatoes, and red eye gravy martinis; a mini calabrese salad that featured ciliengini, heirloom cherry tomatoes, basil chiffonade, and herbed balsamic vinaigrette; Mediterranean chicken salad in pate a choux puff; and vichyssoise duet shooters.
The students created the items, prepped them onsite, and passed the items to guests in the room.
The program and invitation for the event were created by Alex Agurrola, who in 2015 earned a Bachelor of Science in Graphic Design from The Art Institute of California—Inland Empire, and current student Natalia Sanchez, who is working toward a Bachelor of Science in Advertising.
