Inland Empire Hosts Pizza Workshop for Local High School Students

The Art Institute of California — Inland Empire, a campus of Argosy University, had the fortune to host a pizza workshop on May 15, 2018, for high school students in the special needs program at Arroyo Valley High School in San Bernardino, California.

The students in the program had previously learned about safety in the kitchen in their classroom while earning their Food Handlers Card. The pizza workshop at Inland Empire allowed them to put their knowledge about food safety, danger zones, and more to the test.

The pizza workshop consisted of a step-by-step demo on how to make a pizza dough, a marinara recipe lesson that they can make at home, and an exploration of the foundations to a good pizza, including perforating the dough to keep a crisp and even crust.

Student and staff workers from our
culinary and campus relations teams led the event. Working in our professional kitchens with guidance from our students, staff, and their teachers, our guests created personal pizzas and later on ate their creations. Aside from the pizza fun, our student guests were also given a tour of our campus.
