(LENEXA, KS May 2014) – Herschel Hoffmeyer, a student at The Art Institutes International – Kansas City, recently raised more than $51,000 on Kickstarter for his first game, Apex Theropod Deck-Building Game. His goal was to raise $4,000, and along with raising more than 12 times this amount, Hoffmeyer already has distributors interested for a fall release.

A student in the Bachelor of Arts in Game Art & Design degree program, Hoffmeyer served in the Army Infantry for eight years and was deployed to Iraq twice before beginning his studies at The Art Institutes International – Kansas City.

“Going through school I knew I had a real talent for drawing and art,” he said. “I wanted to put a game out and see what the public thought. It blew my mind.”
