About Las Vegas

Las Vegas is a city of nearly 600,000 people, known as a top destination for conventions, meetings, and business. It's one of the top tourist destinations in the world, famous for its casinos and entertainment venues.

For people who love the outdoors, Las Vegas offers mild desert weather that allows for visiting Rock Canyon, the Valley of Fire, Lake Mead, Grand Canyon, or Hoover Damn year-round.

In addition to the shows on the Strip, students visit the Neon Museum, Las Vegas Natural History Museum, National Atomic Testing Museum, and Old Las Vegas Mormon State Historic Park for cultural experiences. The city is also home to the Smith Center for Performing Arts, which holds opera, ballet, dance, and touring Broadway performances.

Racing fans also visit Las Vegas Motor Speedway to catch car races.

Major area employers include Station Casinos, South Point Hotel, Tropicana Las Vegas, and Creel Printing Company.
