(Las Vegas, October 2015)  Students in the Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design degree program at The Art Institute of Las Vegas were asked to put together a fashion show for Downtown Summerlin, a new high-end mall in the Las Vegas valley. The mall had a very successful Farmers Market this summer, and the mall was looking for a way to thank the famers and celebrate fashion. The students in the Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design program were asked to create a garment that was themed after fall colors and a fall harvest table spread. Inspiration was pulled from pictures of couture dresses with apple orchards in the background and farm to table dinner spreads.

The Art of Food  took place on October 9 at the Pavilion at Downtown Summerlin. Light bites and refreshments were served featuring fruits and vegetable from the framers themselves. There were approximately 100 people in attendance each of whom paid $50 for tickets, with proceeds going to help the farmers for the continued success of the farmers market. The student presentation featured 11 models that entered the outdoor space via the descending elevator and walked through the crowds. Each model wore a custom made headpiece that The Art Institute of Las Vegas fashion students created at a workshop earlier in the month. Students also made custom art pieces that used fruits and vegetables in fashion sketches.
