Miami International University of Art & Design recently partnered with Brosway, an Italian jewelry brand, who tasked fashion design students to create a three-piece jewelry collection including a ring, necklace, bracelet, earrings or ankle bracelet that represented their brand. The winning student will receive a $1,500 scholarship in addition to having their collection produced and sold at the brand’s store within Miami International Mall and on Brosway’s website. The runner up will receive a $1,000 scholarship and third place will receive a $500 scholarship.

The winning collection, entitled “Worldhood” designed by senior BFA Fashion Design student, Judith Cabrera will debut this summer. The collection features four necklaces, one bracelet and two sets of cufflinks. The novelty charms resemble road signs showcased in stainless steel with black enamel detailing. “My ‘Worldhood’ collection is inspired by graffiti art and things we see every day in our community,” said Cabrera. “The message for these designs is to encourage our generation to slow down and take a break from technology. If we stop and take a look at our surroundings, we can see new meaning in ordinary things.” The Cuban born and Miami-raised designer, expertly crafted designs that, together with Brosway, have now become a collection of exciting jewels with a hidden message.

“We are pleased to unveil a collection that combines Cabrera’s incredible talent and powerful messaging to create a truly unique and powerful jewelry collection,” says Beatrice Beleggia, Brosway export and communication manager. “We hope that this collection will speak to all generations on a deeper and more impactful level.”

The collection ranges from $35-$40 and is available for purchase in Brosway’s flagship store at the Miami International Mall as well as on the brand’s website.
