Dreaming in Chocolate? We’ve got you covered!

For the 3rd year in a row, Fashion Design students from Miami International University of Art & Design created garments inspired by chocolate for Miami International Mall’s Chocolate Festival on April 21st.

Chocolate lovers of all ages were invited to enjoy delicious from South Florida’s finest restaurants, pastry shops and artisan chocolatiers while feasting their eyes on chocolate-inspired garment.

Of over 30 garments submitted to compete, only 12 were selected for the event exhibit. The students were tasked with creating designs inspired by chocolate – they could use wrappers, chocolate pieces, or just chocolate. A chocoholic’s dream, the chosen garments were displayed at the mall’s Center Court along with a decadent display of delicious chocolate morsels prepared by some of South Florida’s most popular restaurants. The garments ranged from using chocolate wrappers to a sleek milk-chocolate dress, they were all amazing to see. And the aroma, was heavenly.

“The garment designs are truly outstanding and impressive –our students love working on this project – although it can be very tricky on the waistline – someone has to eat all the chocolate to use the wrappers,” says Charlene Parsons, chair of fashion design for Miami International University of Art & Design.

Proceeds from this event will benefit the Simon Youth Foundation, which provides at-risk students with educational resources and opportunities to combat the high school dropout epidemic.
