Miami Students Design Plates to be Auctioned off for Charity

Students working toward a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Arts at Miami International University of Art & Design have been busy at work creating 11-inch ceramic plates inspired by endangered animals. The plates will be auctioned off for charity during “Art Basel”. The students, who visited Jungle Island, an interactive zoological park in Miami, Florida, also got a behind-the-scenes look at the park’s orangutan exhibit. They witnessed the enrichment program, which included live painting on canvas by the orangutan—and interacted with endangered lemurs, giant Aldabra tortoises, and Australian red kangaroos.
 
The ceramic plates along with the animal painted artwork will be auctioned off for charity, and the event has received media coverage in these three publications:
