Miami, FL March 24, 2015 – On March 23, over 80 students of Miami International University of Art & Design showed off their creativity, talent and hard work as part of the annual fashion show held at the Funkshion Fashion Style Village Fashion tent in Miami Beach.

Guests were greeted into the tent by a fashion exhibit entitled, Hope. The Hope exhibit featured a collection of Menswear inspired and created to raise awareness on what it means to be homeless. The design of the garments reflect the students’ interpretation of this important social issue. For example, one jacket was purposely designed without arm holes – as the designer interpreted being homeless as feeling powerless and stuck. Other students created a transparent garment and a hoodie without a face opening to signify the feelings of transparency that many of the homeless may experience from their community and society in general. The exhibit will be on display throughout the week later moving to the University’s main gallery in April.

The judges this year consisted of designer Danny Santiago – Stylist/Designer, Renato Armijo – Chernaya Fashion Director and Luis Toro – Perry Ellis
