The inclusion of students from multiple programs in the classroom, provides an amazing opportunity for them to learn from each other. It's also a great exercise in solidifying an idea. Gigliola Cikowski , Faculty , Miami International University of Art & Design

In what programs do you teach?

BFA in Computer Animation and BFA in Visual Effects & Motion Graphics

What would you say is the defining moment in your life when you knew you were destined to become a creative professional?

I’ve always loved to create stories and characters, so from a very early age, the animation industry called out to me.

Is there a class assignment that exemplifies your approach to teaching and mentoring?

In the modeling class, I require my students to go from concept, including the research and execution of the model, all based on specific parameters for a specific space. The model is based on those parameters and requirements which includes a level of creativity.

What role does collaboration contribute to students' success, especially when students from other programs contribute to the same project?

In the Demo Reel course, there are typically students from three different media arts programs. The varied backgrounds often results in different outlooks which is evident in the group discussions providing a nice balance of ideas.
