Gourmet Gallery Restaurant

Gourmet Gallery Restaurant is a student-run restaurant that's open to the public. Located at The International Culinary School at The Art Institutes International Minnesota, Gourmet Gallery Restaurant serves as the dining lab for students in the culinary program, offering a unique combination of real-world experience and instructional content.

Under the direction of Chef Michael Autenrieth, culinary students nourish and delight patrons while taking the final steps on their path to becoming culinary professionals. From food ordering and preparation to guest seating and serving, Gourmet Gallery Restaurant is a complete instructional environment for students that offers a quality dining experience to its patrons.

Minneapolis Student Works with Children to Create Fashion on Display at YMCA Minneapolis Student Works with Children to Create Fashion on Display at YMCA

Maria Gonzalez, who is working toward a Bachelor of Science in Fashion & Retail Management at The Art Institutes International Minnesota, recently volunteered with children attending “YMCA Healthy Kids Day” to create a fashion design. Maria engaged students at the event to work on the project and the completed work is now on display on at the YMCA in Downtown Minneapolis.

The Art Institutes International Minnesota Hosts Cookie Cart Graduation The Art Institutes International Minnesota Hosts Cookie Cart Graduation

Recently, The Art Institutes International Minnesota hosted the “Cookie Cart” graduation ceremony in the school’s Gourmet Gallery. Cookie Cart is a nonprofit organization that provides teens ages 15 to 18 with lasting and meaningful work, life, and leadership skills through experience and training in an urban nonprofit bakery.

The Art Institutes International Minnesota has an ongoing partnership with Cookie Cart and enjoyed having the organization and its graduates on campus for the day.

The Art institutes International Minnesota Celebrates Creativity in the Classroom The Art institutes International Minnesota Celebrates Creativity in the Classroom

AdoptAClassroom.org partners with Ai Minnesota to provide supplies to local schools

WHO/WHAT:
The Art Institutes International Minnesota is giving back to Minnesota public schools. Students and staff are donating money to local teachers, principals and administrators so that their students can succeed. The Art Institutes International Minnesota is partnering with AdoptAClassroom.org. According to AdoptAClassroom.org, more than 15 million children don’t have the resources they need to succeed in school and that teachers spend more than $1.6 billion a year stocking their own classrooms due to a lack of funding in schools.

The three Twin Cities schools receiving donations are South High School, Patrick Henry High School and Highland Park High School.

Former students will present checks to their former teachers at the “Creativity in the Classroom” event on Thursday, May 5. There will be food, prizes and attendees can contribute to the painting of a mural designed by Alumna Shane Anderson. Anderson is well known for creating murals for Minnesota schools and charities. The artist has worked with more than 20 different organizations and his work is displayed in the Mall of America.

Fashion and Design Students Design Dresses for Habitat for Humanity Fashion and Design Students Design Dresses for Habitat for Humanity

Fashion and design students from The Art Institutes International Minnesota will be creating non-traditional dresses for Habitat for Humanity’s “Hard Hat & Black Tie Gala.” The gala takes place April 9, 2016.

The dresses will have a construction theme and will be shown on 10 mannequins. This event’s theme is blue prints, and students are incorporating blue prints or blue material to tie their designs into the theme.

The mannequins and designs will be displayed on a riser to increase visibility. Participating students were provided construction materials and a $50 Menard’s gift card to gather the supplies needed for their creations. Event guests will be able to vote on their favorite design.

Sandy Swan, Program Coordinator, Fashion, at The Art Institutes International Minnesota, says that the event is this is a great project that allows students to work together across disciplines—from interior design to fashion design and retail management.
