Gourmet Gallery Restaurant

Gourmet Gallery Restaurant is a student-run restaurant that's open to the public. Located at The International Culinary School at The Art Institutes International Minnesota, Gourmet Gallery Restaurant serves as the dining lab for students in the culinary program, offering a unique combination of real-world experience and instructional content.

Under the direction of Chef Michael Autenrieth, culinary students nourish and delight patrons while taking the final steps on their path to becoming culinary professionals. From food ordering and preparation to guest seating and serving, Gourmet Gallery Restaurant is a complete instructional environment for students that offers a quality dining experience to its patrons.

Minneapolis Team Raises Money for Bridging’s Chairs for Flair Minneapolis Team Raises Money for Bridging’s Chairs for Flair

Korrin Lohmann, instructor at The Art Institutes International Minnesota, led a team of student volunteers in the “Bridging's Chairs for Flair” event. The team, which included nine interior design students, deconstructed and re-designed a piece of furniture which then went up for auction. Proceeds benefitted Bridging’s mission of improving lives by providing quality furniture and household goods to those transitioning out of homelessness and poverty.  

 

The auction took place on July 16, 2016 at the Solar Arts building in Minneapolis. This is the third year that Korrin and interior design students have participated in the event.

Minnesota Students and Faculty Explore the Impact of Climate Change on Bees

 

Students and faculty from The Art Institutes International Minnesota recently participated in “Northern Spark,” a dusk-to-dawn festival held during the second Saturday of June. The theme of this year’s festival was “Climate Chaos.” The students and faculty members demonstrated how bees are impacted by climate change. The artists explored dancing with bees, feasts made from honey, and build-a-bee workshops.

Minnesota Instructor On TV To Demonstrate Making Honey Truffles Minnesota Instructor On TV To Demonstrate Making Honey Truffles

Amy Carter, culinary instructor, The Art Institutes International Minnesota, recently appeared on “Twin Cities Live” to teach viewers how to make honey truffles. The appearance was in conjunction with Northern Spark, an annual arts festival in Minneapolis.

The year’s festival theme was related to climate change. Students from The Art Institutes International Minnesota demonstrated how bees effect climate change through food, media, fashion, and design. The artists explored dancing with bees, cooking with honey, and build-a-bee workshops. Culinary students organized a workshop at the festival that included cooking with honey.

Director of Campus Relations, Lacey Erickson, was also interviewed on the Minnesota News Network (MNN). Erickson talked about the student workshops and she educated listeners about the history of the Northern Spark Festival. The interview aired on MNN’s 80 affiliate radio stations across the state.

Minneapolis Student Works with Children to Create Fashion on Display at YMCA Minneapolis Student Works with Children to Create Fashion on Display at YMCA

Maria Gonzalez, who is working toward a Bachelor of Science in Fashion & Retail Management at The Art Institutes International Minnesota, recently volunteered with children attending “YMCA Healthy Kids Day” to create a fashion design. Maria engaged students at the event to work on the project and the completed work is now on display on at the YMCA in Downtown Minneapolis.
