(Las Vegas, August 2015)  The Art Institute of Las Vegas culinary instructor, Chef Michelle Vietmeier,  did a segment with KNSV-TV, the Las Vegas NBC affiliate, on picnic foods.  She demonstrated an easy grilled veggie marinade and pesto pasta salad.

The Art Institute of Charleston Welcomes New President The Art Institute of Charleston Welcomes New President

The Art Institute of Charleston, a branch of The Art Institute of Atlanta, welcomes new campus president Todd Harrison. As president, Harrison will oversee all aspects of school administration including academic quality, operational effectiveness, as well as student and graduate success.

Harrison brings more than 15 years of leadership experience, including five years in higher education to his role at The Art Institute of Charleston. He most recently served as Campus President of The Art Institute of Salt Lake City. Prior to that, he was Senior Director of Admissions for Argosy University, Salt Lake City and an adjunct faculty member at Argosy University, Salt Lake City.

Before entering the field of higher education, Harrison worked in Executive Sales & Consulting at Spillman Technologies and as Vice President, Sales/Operations at Net Marketing Alliance. Harrison holds a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership from Argosy University and a Bachelor of Science, Technical Sales from Weber State University.

The Art Institute of Charleston and Vapor Apparel partner to create one-of-a-kind printed fabrics The Art Institute of Charleston and Vapor Apparel partner to create one-of-a-kind printed fabrics

Fashion students in the Surface Design class at The Art Institute of Charleston, a branch of The Art Institute of Atlanta, recently had the opportunity to create artwork that was printed on fabric by Vapor Apparel, a leader in apparel sublimation printing.

 

As part of the project, the fashion students toured Vapor Apparel’s North Charleston facilities and learned about the digital textile printing process. In class students worked on concepts and designing their textile print, which Vapor then produced.

 

Students utilized the resulting fabrics in garments they created, currently on display at The Art Institute of Charleston.

Johnny Depierro Featured in Westword Story Johnny Depierro Featured in Westword Story

(Denver, August 2015)   Chef Johnny Depierro, a 2006 graduate from The Art Institute of Colorado with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Culinary Arts, was featured in Westword about his new restaurant, Mijo. 

Chef Depierro is executive chef at Bones Restaurant at 701 Grant Street in Denver and recently opened a new restaurant, Mijo, in the Avanti Food Hall in Lower Highlands (LO/HI).

WHO/WHAT: 

The Art Institute of Atlanta is celebrating the city’s culinary community with Culinary Week, a week of demos, panel discussions and workshops that highlight the synergy between students, faculty, alumni and local culinary professionals. Taking part in Culinary Week will be celebrity chef and graduate of The Art Institute of Atlanta, Jamika Pessoa. She will participate in a number of events and panel discussions throughout the week.

Two Graduates Featured in The Kingsburg Recorder

(Los Angeles, August 2015)  Graduates from The Art Institute of California – Los Angeles, a campus of Argosy University were featured in The Kingsburg Recorder, a weekly paper for people living and working in Kingsburg and surrounding areas in Fresno, Calif.  Both Ruben Morales, a 2008 graduate, and Charles Elliott Stalie, a 2010 graduate, received a Bachelor of Science  Degree in Game Art & Design.

The article discusses the success of the graduates in breaking into the industry after attending The Art Institute of California - Los Angeles. Morales and Stalie had internships with game studio Heavy Iron and an Xbox Arcade company, where they worked on games like Disney Infinity and South Park: The Stick of Truth. Both are working at Treyarch, the main studio behind the “Call of Duty” franchise. According to publisher Activision Blizzard, “Call of Duty” has sold more than 175 million copies worldwide, with roughly $10 billion in sales.
