Was there a defining moment when you knew you were destined to become a creative professional?
I’ve been drawing since I could hold a pencil.
How do you weave your professional background into the classroom experience?
I share the learning and experiences I’ve had through advice, articles, and real-world scenarios.
What class assignment exemplifies your approach to teaching and mentoring?
I really like working with creative students as they come up with original concepts for apps, games, and web sites. I love giving them additional ideas to help them make an even better end product.
How does collaboration contribute to students’ success—particularly when students from various programs work together?
When students from different disciplines come together, their various skills can create something great that couldn’t have been done individually.
What’s the most important thing you impart to students to help them succeed in class and the real world?
Understand your target audience.
What’s the most critical advice you would offer any student embarking on a creative career?
There’s a lot of competition out there. If you just coast to get a passing grade, you’re not going to be successful when you leave. Get as deep into the content and your projects as possible.
Anything else you’d like to share?
I enjoy working with students and helping them push their work to new heights.
