The Art Institute of California—Orange County is located in the heart of Orange County's South Coast Metro region. The area is nearly 800 square miles and has a population of nearly 3 million. The region has a strong economy and is highly ranked on the list of highest median household income in the country. , it boasts an economy of $112 billion annually and ranks fourth nationally in highest median household income. In 2000, Forbes rated Orange County seventh in its "Best Places to do Business" survey.

Orange County living provides close proximity to all that the Southern California region has to offer. Southern California is a central hub to the entertainment, advertising, design, aerospace and culinary industries.


Most people think of beaches when they think of California, and Orange County does not disappoint with 42 miles of beautiful Pacific Ocean coastline. Laguna Beach, San Juan Capistrano, and Newport Beach are known the world over and Huntington Beach is internationally known as "Surf City, USA." In recent years, Orange County has become the center of the booming skate and surf industries. Wilderness and mountain parks are minutes away for camping, hiking and biking. All of this comes with one of the most desirable climates in the world—the temperature is almost always above 32 degrees, there are only 5 average days over 90 degrees, and there are more than 250 sunny days a year.

Orange County also boasts famous attractions including Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm. Cultural events include the annual Laguna Beach Festival of Arts/Pageant of the Masters, as well as Broadway-quality entertainment at the Orange County Performing Arts Center. Orange County has numerous arts venues, museums, concerts, and theatres. It's no wonder that more than 35 million people visit Orange County yearly.

The Art Institute of California—Orange County is located in Santa Ana, in a facility that fosters creative learning. The school offers programs in design, media arts, fashion, and culinary.

Many students commute from Orange County's more than 30 towns and communities, while others students enjoy apartment living in school-sponsored housing located just two miles from campus.  The fully-furnished apartments are located in one of the largest shopping, entertainment, and business areas of Orange County. Features include a swimming pool, laundry facilities, fitness center, and tennis courts. Resident Assistants live on-site and organize events such as videogame tournaments, movie nights, barbeques, and beach bonfires.

To build relationships and gain experience in their areas of study, many students participate in special events and workshops, join student groups, and work in internships within the Santa Ana area. The Art Institute of California—Orange County offers the following services to help students during their time at the school:

  • Special events/workshops on health or wellness related areas
  • Information on human services in the local area
  • Assistance with study habits, time management, stress management, communication, problem solving, and the transition to school
  • Coordination of disability services for students who qualify in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act
