Finalist in “One Show Awards” Worldwide Competition Celebrating Best in Advertising, Design, and Marketing Communications

Chase Madrid is a senior art director for FCB in San Francisco, California. He's responsible for creative ideation, presentation, and production. He adds that he "started to fill his bag of tricks" while he was a student at The Art Institute of California—Orange County. "Those tricks got me in the door at an agency," he says.

Chase was also a finalist in the prestigious "One Show Awards," a worldwide competition celebrating the year's best in all forms of advertising, design, and marketing communications. He was nominated for his work on the Nissan's "Shoulder of Giants" campaign. The awards event was hosted by comedian-actors Ellie Kemper ("Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt") and Michael Ian Black ("Wet Hot American Summer").

Chase advises current students to listen to everyone and take in knowledge. "[Everything from] a film technique from a movie, an interesting new wearable technology, and an HTML 5 website can combine to make something awesome. Everything you see or hear should become part of your arsenal."

He's won awards for the "Call of Duty" ad campaign titled "There's a Solider in All of Us" and says that he finds inspiration in movies and television shows. "They give you awesome techniques for telling stories." Chase particularly admires the work of Michel Gondry, David Fincher, Ridley Scott, Christopher Nolan, J.J. Abrams, and Snyder.

Chase, who in 2008 earned a Bachelor of Science in Advertising from The Art Institute of California—Orange County, says that today's technology is truly exciting to him, from wearable technology to websites that are expanding into immersive experiences. "Everything is moving toward on-demand services. You want it when you want it—doesn't matter if that's a [drink] from the fridge, a drone delivery, or your favorite [premium cable] series."
