5ifty Forks Restaurant

5ifty Forks is a student-run restaurant that's open to the public. Located at The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of California—Orange County, 5ifty Forks serves as the dining lab for students in the culinary program, offering a unique combination of real-world experience and instructional content.

Under the direction of chef professionals, culinary students nourish and delight patrons while taking the final steps on their path to becoming culinary professionals. From food ordering and preparation to guest seating and serving, 5ifty Forks is a complete instructional environment for students that offers a quality dining experience to its patrons.

Orange County Campus Celebrated Harry Potter’s 36th Birthday Orange County Campus Celebrated Harry Potter’s 36th Birthday

The Art Institute of California—Orange County, a campus of Argosy University, celebrated Harry Potter’s 36th birthday on August 1. The event featured a birthday cake and film screening—and the school’s library was transformed for the event. 

Following the movie, attendees discussed Harry Potter’s ongoing position as a cultural and literary icon.

Orange County Campus Welcomes Graphic Designer Stefan Bucher Orange County Campus Welcomes Graphic Designer Stefan Bucher

Graphic designer and illustrator Stefan Bucher spoke at The Art Institute of California – Orange County, a campus of Argosy University, on July 27.

Bucher is the creator of the popular online animation series Daily Monster. Clips of his work are featured in the book 100 Days of Monsters with a foreword by Ze Frank.  The series has also been included in Communication Arts Illustration and American Illustration publications. Additionally, the Daily Monster clips appear on the relaunched version of The Electric Company. 

Bucher began his career as an art director at Portland’s Wieden & Kennedy agency, then went on to design numerous CD packages including Sting’s Brand New Day: The Remixes and the soundtrack for the motion picture The Matrix. His design of the 17th American Photography annual publication received the 2001 Silver Award for outstanding complete book design by British Design & Advertising.

His more recent work for clients makes more frequent use of illustration and hand-lettering. He created the main title typography and title design for the films The Fall, Immortals, and Mirror Mirror.

Orange County Students Create “Shop Local” Video for City of Santa Ana Orange County Students Create “Shop Local” Video for City of Santa Ana

The Art Institute of California—Orange County, a campus of Argosy University, partnered with the City of Santa Ana to create a “Shop Local” campaign video. Students working toward a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Digital Filmmaking & Video Production created the video that’s now available on the city’s webpage.

 

The students who worked on the project are Brian Ramirez, Jasmin Velasco, Geoffrey Ramos, and Doron Dill.

Orange County Culinary Kitchen Used to Teach Anaheim Ducks How to Prepare Healthy Meals Orange County Culinary Kitchen Used to Teach Anaheim Ducks How to Prepare Healthy Meals

On July 1, 2016, twenty new players for the Anaheim Ducks hockey team met in the professional kitchens at The Art Institute of California—Orange County, a campus of Argosy University, to learn how to prepare nutritious meals in their own home kitchens.

They were taught by Executive Chef Joseph "Jo Jo" Doyle from the Honda Center—the location where the Ducks play. This is the second time that the team has sent their draftees to the school to learn how to cook healthy foods. Last year, hockey players from around the world were flown in to learn culinary techniques and healthy eating habits.
