Emmy Award-Winning Alum Offers Advice to Current Students

May 24, 2018

On May 2, 2018, The Art Institute of Philadelphia welcomed Bachelor of Science in Digital Filmmaking & Video Production 2011 alum Simone Middleton to campus to speak to our students.

Simone is currently a video librarian at Fox News in Washington DC. Prior to joining Fox News, she worked at ABC 7/WJLA in Arlington, Virginia and for Light-Thief Productions in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She has earned both an Emmy award and Edward R. Murrow award for her work in broadcasting.

During her nearly two-hour inspirational presentation, Simone talked with students about the journey she’s taken to reach her current position, the industry she works in, what it takes to succeed, and how to properly utilize the time students have at school. She encouraged students to listen to and respect professors and take advantage of this opportunity to learn from them as industry veterans. She also advised our students to join local and international video organizations.

Simone brought her Emmy Award to the presentation to share with students and allowed them to take pictures. The presentation was also recorded so that it could be shared with future students.
