The Art Institute of Philadelphia students participating in the 2009 Study Abroad program traveled to Italy with Fashion Marketing faculty member Gene DiPilla between the spring and summer quarters.

The students' culminating projects are on display in the 1610 Chestnut Street Gallery through December 2009.

These projects not only reflect the professional and artistic skills of the students, but also will become a compendium of their respective findings, experiences and inspirations while living and studying abroad.

While in Italy, the students were based in Florence where they lived in apartments in typical Florentine neighborhoods. The trip also included three days in Venice and culminated with four days in Rome.

For her Study Abroad project, Graphic Design student Jaz'Min Daniels re-designed the CDs of Italian pop star Tony Maiello, whose music she heard everywhere during her stay in Italy; Photography student Emily Broome captured some of Rome's famous squares (piazze) in her photographs; and Media Arts & Animation student Brett Mogavero created a bird's-eye view of Venice in his short animated film bella figura.
