Fashion Program Instructor Receives MLK Living the Dream Award

Joanna De’Shay, an instructor in the Fashion degree programs at The Art Institute of Phoenix, was recently honored with the prestigious MLK Living the Dream award from the Phoenix Human Relations Commission in collaboration with the city of Phoenix Equal Opportunity Department.
An annual tradition since 1994, this award recognizes Phoenix area residents who embody the ideas of Dr. King through their ongoing personal commitment to human relations and social justice. Joanna received the award on January 12, 2018, during the Arizona Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration Awards Breakfast. As Executive Director of the Diversity Leadership Alliance, Joanna has overseen a variety of programs that provide diversity training and leadership guidance as well as help to cultivate more inclusive communities across Arizona.
Joanna is also CEO and Designer of Black Russian Label clothing line, the Regional Director of the Arizona Fashion Group International, and an adjunct instructor at The Art Institute of Phoenix in the Fashion Design and Fashion Marketing & Management programs.
