In celebration of Veterans Day, The Art Institute of Phoenix recently partnered with the annual Swing Time 1940s Hangar Party, benefiting Thunderbird Field II Veterans Memorial Inc. and Hospice Dream Catcher Foundation, Inc. Chef Boman, culinary instructor, created a chocolate and pastillage Stearman on a chocolate lit runway while fashion students styled 1940s dresses. Helen Nosova, fashion historian and design instructor, led this project alongside the school’s general education program chair Jennifer Smith-Izzo.

This collaboration helped the Thunderbird Field II Veterans Memorial Inc. to memorialize veterans and Thunderbird Field II, a World War II Army Air Corps training field that is now the Scottsdale Airport. It also will assist the organization’s continuing goal to fulfill the final dreams for countless hospice patients around the country.

In addition to his participation in this project, Chef Boman was previously named an American Culinary Federation Pastry Chef of the Year.
