Awesome Films Mike Szivos Emmy Telly SVG Award Winner
Michael Szivos, a faculty member and 2006 Bachelor of Science in Visual Effects & Motion Graphics graduate from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh, was part of a team that received two Emmy Award nominations, including one win, at the 2017 Mid-Atlantic Emmy Awards ceremony on Saturday, September 9, 2017.

Szivos has garnered this recognition, along with several other awards, for his work as the Art Director and Senior Motion Designer with Awesome Films, a position he holds in addition to teaching for The Art Institute of Pittsburgh.

Awesome Films Mike Szivos Rutgers Football Chris Ash Show Logo
The Awesome Films team received a 2017 Emmy Award in the Sports - Interviews and Discussions category for a weekly college football show, R Football with Chris Ash, covering the Rutgers University football program and their head coach throughout the season. The 30-minute program is hosted by Emmy award-winning sports anchor Bruce Beck and features game highlights, sit-down interviews, and behind-the-scenes access into the Rutgers football program. Awesome Films worked on the show, in conjunction with the Rutgers University Athletics Communications Department.

Szivos created the show’s branding, including the logo/title graphic, segment graphics and lower thirds. The Awesome Films team also received an Emmy nomination in the Sports - Program Series category for their work on the Penn State Hockey Story.

#BAYMADE: Inside USF Football
Awesome Films Mike Szivos SVG Awarded #BAYMADE University of South Florida Football USF
Together with Awesome Films and the University of South Florida’s athletic department, Szivos was a part of the team which received a 2017 College Sports Media Award for Outstanding Program Series for #BAYMADE: Inside USF Football. #BAYMADE is a 30-minute weekly program which takes fans inside The University of South Florida's football program. It aired 13 episodes during the Bulls’ record 11-win 2016 season. Szivos was responsible for the motion graphics design throughout the show. The award was given by The Sports Video Group (SVG) and National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).

The Penn State Hockey Story - "Forever"

Awesome Films earned a silver and bronze Telly Awards in 2017. They were awarded the silver Telly for Best Non-Broadcast Sports Production for the Georgetown University Starting Lineup video, which played at every men’s basketball home game during the 2016-2017 season. Szivos was the post-production art director for the final piece, utilizing color grading, effects, and motion graphics design.

Awesome Films also received a bronze Telly Award in the Best Sports Show Segment category for the "Forever" episode of The Penn State Hockey Story. For that series, Szivos worked on the show branding, the show open and also contributed motion graphics and effects design throughout the show.
