Chef Shawn Culp profiled in Pittsburgh Tribune-Review
April 18, 2016
Shawn Culp, Culinary Department Chair, The International Culinary School at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh, is not just an instructor, he’s also Culinary Olympian and he coaches the American Culinary Federation (ACF) Culinary Youth Team USA.
Culp is profiled in an article in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, and in the article he notes that his motto is “strive for perfection and excellence will be the standard.” He adds that his favorite lunchtime spot is “Taste of Art Restaurant,” the student run restaurant at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh.
Culp also discussed the cricket culinary trend. The school has held multiple cooking demonstrations in collaboration with Ohio-based Big Cricket Farms to show that edible crickets are tasty and nutritious.
The interview also touches on his worst job (as a roofer) and said that he’d pick Matt Damon to play him if there were a movie about his life. The chef noted he could binge watch "The Walking Dead," and the best concert he saw was Black Sabbath/Pantera.
