TEDxPittsburgh Had Many Art Institute of Pittsburgh Connections
June 3, 2016
Art Institute of Pittsburgh Fashion faculty member Casey Droege spoke before a sold-out crowd at TEDxPittsburgh, held Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hall. In her talk, she challenged the audience to break out of its comfort zone to create ideas and build a stronger community. (View the video of her talk here; her talk begins at 18:55).
Several students and alumni also contributed to TEDxPittsburgh. Industrial Design student Jason Glasser, who is working toward a Bachelor of Science, created the large TEDx blocks that appeared on the speakers’ stage, and Tim Fritz, who is working toward a Bachelor of Science in Graphic Design created the program handout featuring speaker biographies.
Graduates Jeff Hilty and Nicholas Buchheit, who in 2009 both earned a Bachelor of Science in Digital Media Production, produced the video that kicked off the event. They work for the Pittsburgh-based company Covalent. Sara Coffey, who in 2009 earned a Bachelor of Science in Graphic Design, served as the creative director and the school’s senior director of admissions, Jennifer O’Brien, was the speaker curator.
