The Art Institute of Pittsburgh Graphic Design Grad Showcased in Arts Festival
May 26, 2016
Nathan Doverspike, who in 2014 earned a Bachelor of Science in Graphic Design from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh, has been named a “2016 Emerging Artist” by the Pittsburgh Three Rivers Arts Festival.
Three Rivers Arts Festival Emerging Artist Scholarship Program recognizes local artists who have never participated in an outdoor arts festival. Honorees are chosen based on the quality and originality of their work. They show at the festival for free, and they’re paired with an artist mentor.
The 2016 festival takes place June 3-12, 2016 in downtown Pittsburgh. Doverspike said he’s wanted to participate in the event since he was in elementary school. His work is heavily influenced by comic books, and his illustrations have been recognized by “Communication Arts Magazine,” the New York Society of Illustrators, and the DATA Pittsburgh Technology Summit.
