Portland Fashion Student Featured in Portland Monthly Magazine
August 8, 2016
V (Vetsourahn) Thongrivong, who is working toward a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Apparel Design from The Art Institute of Portland, was recently featured in Portland Monthly Magazine as a Top Designer. She was also noted for her contribution to the local LGBTQ community.
Following the mass shooting in Orlando and as the City of Portland celebrated “Portland Pride,” Portland Monthly Magazine hosted its first-ever fashion show. V Thongrivon was featured as one of four “Notable Designers.”
V is a custom gown designer and proud activist for trans rights and awareness. Her love for theater and drama is reflected in her designs. She specializes in couture and custom garments, from gowns to tailored suits, extravagant costumes, and active wear. Looking ahead, V looks to use the NW Fierce Pageant as a platform for trans rights and awareness through fundraising and volunteer work. She hopes that one day everyone can have the same rights.
