Digital Marketing Lead, Ankrom Moisan Architects

Sara Drenzek is a digital marketing lead for Ankrom Moisan Architects in Portland, Oregon. She is responsible for content generation for the company’s website and social media accounts, as well as creating proposals, email campaigns, and printed collateral. She also maintains and updates text libraries and other resources. She says that a typical day includes meetings with individual architects, interior designers, or project teams to create content for proposal responses. “I collaborate with designers to create blog posts, website descriptions, and social media content. I work very closely with our in-house production staff to create both printed and digital marketing materials.”

To cultivate creativity amongst her coworkers, Sara often brings new ideas to the table. “I’m not afraid to voice my ideas and opinions, no matter how crazy they might sound. Sometimes these are the ideas that form the foundation for something great. I know I’m making a positive impact with my team because we have fun finding creative solutions and proposing fresh ideas.”

Sara encourages current students to keep an open line of communication with teachers and peers, in order to bounce ideas and inspiration off of others. “Talking it out with your teacher or teammates [leads to] a solution.” Sara adds that starting new in a job is difficult and building trust amongst coworkers can be difficult. “Show them that you can deliver quality work on a deadline and you’ll be part of the team in no time.”

Sara, who in 2014 earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Advertising from The Art Institute of Portland, says that her education taught the importance of meeting deadlines. “Taking due dates seriously, being organized, and performing under pressure in class really helped me to be successful in a creative career. The experience I gained using Adobe Creative Suite in class was also one of the main reasons I got hired—it’s software that we use on a daily basis [in the office].”
