Raleigh-Durham Campus Sponsors "Doing Good With Food" Celebration

Recently, The Art Institute of Raleigh-Durham, a branch of Miami International University of Art & Design, was a primary sponsor and proud collaborator at cancer survivor Lucas Hobbs’ “Doing Good with Food” Celebration.

When he was 12 years old, Lucas was diagnosed with stage 3 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. His Make-A-Wish Foundation request asked for a food truck to feed all the people he was grateful for during his cancer journey. Two years later and cancer free, Lucas’ newly formed nonprofit has a mission of “Doing Good with Food” as he continues to partner with the nonprofit Massive Amounts of Good and food trucks nationwide to communicate the gratitude he and other children have for the life-saving heroes working at children’s hospitals.

Lucas has been featured on The Rachael Ray Show during his journey. When Lucas arrived in Durham, North Carolina, he was joined by several local food trucks to provide lunch and entertainment to Duke Children’s Hospital patients and their families, as well as hospital staff.  The day was officially declared as "Chef Lucas Day" by the City of Durham.
