Each year the American Advertising Federation (AAF) - Sacramento Ad Club holds its annual ADDY Awards ceremony to recognize excellence in advertising in the greater Sacramento region. The 2013-2014 celebration of creativity went very well for The Art Institute of California – Sacramento, a campus of Argosy University; students took home 5 of 7 student awards, including four silvers and a gold. The gold was also named Judges Choice.
“I’m thrilled – though not surprised – by the wins. I think it really speaks to the rigor and creativity I see happening in classrooms every day here at Ai California-Sacramento,” said Dean of Academic Affairs Lawrence Richman. “Our students are excited about their coursework, and the degree of motivation that excitement creates is pretty inspiring to be around every day.”
But students weren’t the only winners—Director of Media Arts & Animation* at the school, Jay Truesdale, took home the coveted Media Person of the Year award. Truesdale, no stranger to ADDY awards himself, is an Emmy nominated cinematographer and commercial producer/director who worked at KTXL Fox40 and KOVR 13/KMAX 31 before joining The Art Institute team.
“Of course it’s an honor to be chosen as Media Person of the Year,” said Truesdale. “I think the award is a reflection of the work our students are putting out, and I have to say that is much more exciting than the award itself. We involve our students a lot in the local community, but this recognition makes me want to challenge students to participate even more.”
The ADDY Awards ceremony was held on February 27, 2014 at the Dante Club in Sacramento. For more information on the ADDY Awards or the America Advertising Federation (AAF) – Sacramento Ad Club, visit www.aafsacadclub.com/.
