A little over a year ago, The Art Institute of California—Sacramento, a campus of Argosy University, was made aware that two of our distinguished alumni - Laura Benson, Graphic & Web Design (BS, 2012) and Neil Estaris, Graphic & Web Design (BS, 2012), were finalists in Downtown Sacramento’s Calling All Dreamers contest

They competed as aspiring Entrepreneurs who were vying to open a downtown storefront and win a start-up incentive package valued at approximately $110,000. The concept was a comic book and coffee shop that would cater not only to those that enjoyed the genre, but allow for all types of “geeks” to have a spot to gather. In addition to the various business proposals and presentations for Sacramento city officials, they presented their concept on campus to the current student population, students, staff and faculty.

On Wednesday, May 10th, the doors to Oblivion Comics and Coffee opened in downtown Sacramento. It was amazing to see these graduates fulfill their goals, and to be able to share in their success.
