Culinary Students Showcase Their Award Winning Walnut Recipes

Four of our dedicated Culinary students showcased their award winning recipes on Good Day Sacramento. These students participated in the California Walnut Board Recipe Contest and their dishes stood out from the rest.

Below is a link to the segment that aired on September 9, 2017 - the anchor got our school name wrong, but these students got their recipes just right!

Grand Prize (First Place) Winner:  Marissa Juarez (Baking & Pastry, AS; 6th Quarter) | CA Walnut Buddha Bowl

*Marissa will have a spot to attend our VIP Chef summit during the CA Walnut Harvest Sept. 26-28 in Sacramento. She will get to mingle and work alongside several renowned chefs from all over the USA, as well as respected foodservice media professionals. Additionally, she will receive $1,000 in the form of a Visa Gift Card and her recipe to be featured within the CA Walnuts marketing channels.

Second Place Winner: Alyssa Hamilton (Art of Cooking, DP; 1st Quarter) | CA Walnut Stuffed Flank Steak

*Alyssa will receive a $500 Visa Gift Card, a special hand-crafted walnut wood bowl and her recipe on CA Walnut marketing channels.

Runners Up:  Rebecca Martinez (Culinary Arts, AS; 2nd Quarter) | Lemon Walnut Ginger Cheesecake Bites || Kayla Martlett (Culinary Management, BS; 10th Quarter) | California Walnut Herb Crusted Salmon and Fresh herb Salad

*Both will receive a $250 Visa Gift Card, a special hand-crafted Walnut wood Mortar & Pestle and mentions on CA Marketing channels.
