On September 16th and 17th, 2017, the third annual WordCamp Sacramento conference took place at the Sacramento Convention Center, and The Art Institute of California—Sacramento, a campus of Argosy University, had a strong presence at the conference. Graduate Jonathan Trujillo, (BA Web Design & Interactive Media, 2014) presented at the conference and many other alumni attended. We also had a great group of current students volunteering and helping to run the event. Ai California—Sacramento Design Faculty, Bill Mead, and BA Graphic & Web Design 2017 graduate Jennifer Meyer have been on the organizing committee for this event since the first WordCamp Sacramento in 2015.

WordCamp is an educational conference that brings together a broad group of attendees interested in the open source WordPress software platform for building websites. This includes designers, developers, content creators, bloggers, marketing gurus, and business people.

The first WordCamp Sacramento was held at Ai California—Sacramento in 2015 and had 200 attendees. Last year, the event grew to 300 attendees and this year over 500 tickets were sold. Interest in the platform continues to grow and this all-volunteer run event is a great opportunity for members of The Art Institute community to come together and demonstrate their interest and expertise.
