Photography Instructor featured in “Sactown Magazine” for Moustache and Beard Portraits
April 11, 2016
Dan Herrera, photography instructor at The Art Institute of California—Sacramento, a campus of Argosy University, recently had his portraiture work showcased in “Sactown Magazine.” Herrera was also the featured artist during the school’s Fall 2015 Gallery Display. For that gallery showing, Herrera debuted his photography collection entitled “Competitive Facial Hair.”
Herrera’s photos were taken at the 2015 Northern California Beard and Moustache Competition. He says that he utilized a combination of studio lighting techniques and post-production effects for each portrait. This allowed Herrera to amplify the drama and character of each portrait—visually elevating each subject to a near super-hero state.
