Sacramento Instructor Featured for Insight on Tintype Photography
May 24, 2016
Dan Herrera, a photography instructor at The Art Institute of California—Sacramento a campus of Argosy University, was featured in a segment on “Good Day Sacramento” regarding tintype photography.
Tintype is a type of photograph made by creating a direct positive on a thin sheet of metal coated with a dark lacquer or enamel and used as the support for the photographic emulsion. Tintypes enjoyed their widest use during the 1860s and 1870s, but have recently been revived as a novelty and an “old-fashioned” style of photography.
Herrera has been recognized nationally for his work in photography. The segment was filmed in late May 2016 at the Art Institute of California—Sacramento campus.
