“[My education prepared me] to film an idea, edit it to narrative, and release it onto social media platforms.” William Condon , Director of Video Production, Firearms Policy Coalition Bachelor of Science in Digital Filmmaking & Video Production, 2016 , The Art Institute of California—Sacramento, a campus of Argosy University
William Condon is the director of video production for the Firearms Policy Coalition. He films, edits, works in a green screen studio, and is involved in field reporting. “Depending on the day, we come up with a [new] idea. We shoot the idea and get it out [onto social media] like a news package,” he says.
William adds that full time work is a full time commitment—and involves passion for what you do. “My job is to educate the public on certain issues pertaining to second amendment rights. Anything as small as finding the right music, or using a certain shooting technique to convey an emotion from the viewer is key [to getting the message across]. My work is seen by thousands of people daily.”
He is a military veteran who served in the United States Marine Corps from 2002-2006. William believes that the challenges he faced in his life have helped him to build a strong commitment to achieving success. He grew up in a broken home and served the United States during a time of war—experiences, he said, that instilled a “never quit” mentality. He says that current students should stay focused and determined as they pursue of their career goals.
William, who in 2016 earned a Bachelor of Science in Digital Filmmaking & Video Production from The Art Institute of California—Sacramento, says that his education prepared him to film an idea, edit it to narrative, and release it onto social media platforms. He also believes that learning should never stop. “Use the web, it will help you to gain the knowledge in areas you may be weak in. There is always an opportunity to learn.”
