The 1st Inaugural “Future Chefs Challenge” Culinary Competition will be hosted by The Culinary School at The Art Institute of San Antonio and sponsored by The Hospitality Educators Association of Texas (HEAT) on Saturday April 1st 2017 at Ai San Antonio’s campus. Fourteen teams, from the local San Antonio Area, will be given a mystery basket of food products with which they will have thirty minutes to create a menu then three hours to prepare 3 servings of a 3-course menu. The students will find a protein, a starch, vegetables and one mystery item in their baskets as they race to make a culinary crowd pleaser. Each team will have access to a six burner stove, pots, pans and a basic pantry. Each kitchen will have a Floor Judge to monitor the students and current culinary students from will be on hand to assist with operation. The winning team will be determined by a panel of Chefs that includes Adrian Cruz, Tatu Herrera and Food Network Champion Michelle Antonishek. The Winners will be taking home the Culinary Award of Champion for San Antonio with prizes and scholarship money provided by local sponsors.
