October 9, 2017
The Art Institute of California-San Diego, a campus of Argosy University, donated desserts to help a local fashion show fundraising event to support the Warrior Foundation. Sheila Truesdell, one of the collaborators for the event, shares that “The Warrior Foundation assists military men and women who have served in the War against Terrorism by providing every kind of support imaginable. Whether it is airfare and hotel rooms for parents coming to their injured children’s hospital room, special sunglasses or other adaptive devices, plane tickets to send warriors home for Christmas, or assistance in providing access to qualified professionals for educational and career guidance, the Foundation applies 96.4% of all monies raised to meeting individual needs. In addition, the Foundation opened Freedom Station in 2011. Freedom Station is a group of 12 cottages located near the Naval Medical Center in which warriors can live in community with other returning veterans as they recover and transition back into civilian life.” For the past several years, The Art Institute of California—San Diego has participated in Senator Joel Anderson’s annual holiday celebration, and the connection was extended to this event.
