De’Vaughn Braxton, who in 2016 earned a Bachelor of Science in Game Art & Design from The Art Institute of California—San Diego, a campus of Argosy University, recently illustrated the book “Maasai Boy – Heart of a Warrior / Corazon de un Guerrero,” a book written in both Spanish and English.

The book is described as a coming of age story for children. In it, a boy must hunt a lion—as mandated by his father, the chief. But when the boy has the opportunity to kill the lion, he instead chooses to save the lions life. He fears that his father will be ashamed of him, but instead his father is proud of him. The moral to this story is that a child becomes a strong adult by learning how to make decisions.
De’Vaughn started by drawing rough sketches in pencil, and then finished each image in Photoshop. He utilized Kickstarter to fund the book’s 500-print run.
