San Diego Instructor Chef ShaSha Gideo to be Featured on “Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern”

Chef ShaSha Gideo, a culinary instructor at The Art Institute of California—San Diego, a campus of Argosy University, was recently featured on “Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern.” The interview came as a surprise to Chef ShaSha—she was shopping for seafood at the Tuna Harbor Dockside Market when a producer from the show approached her. Chef ShaSha happened to be wearing her Art Institute of California—San Diego chef coat and caught the producer’s attention.
She was asked about the fish she was buying, what she planned on making, how she heard about the Tuna Dockside Market, and if she would recommend it. A connection was made when the producer asked her where she was from. When it was learned that she hailed from Edina, Minnesota—where Zimmern and his family reside—the producer confirmed that she would be on the show.
Chef ShaSha was invited to fabricate one of the fresh yellow fin tuna caught in the morning by the fishermen. She was amazed that a quick trip to the market ended up with being featured on a popular television show. The episode will run this fall.
Fresh fish tip—Chef ShaSha mentioned that when choosing a fresh fish, always look at the eyes. If the eyes have a film or discoloration, the fish is probably about 4-5 days old. A fresh fish will have crystal clear eyes.
