What would you say is the defining moment in your life when you knew you were destined to become a creative professional?

I grew up in an environment where creativity was encouraged. My grandmother was a great seamstress and made basically all of the grandchildren’s clothes and my mother owned a knitting business, so I was involved and exposed to many aspects of fashion from a young age.

How do you weave your professional background into the classroom experience to provide an industry veteran's sense of the realities / challenges / opportunities of the profession?

I am a true believer of incorporating professional experience with my teaching. I make sure to include my relevant experiences into every class I teach on a daily basis.

Is there a class assignment that exemplifies your approach to teaching and mentoring? Similarly, how does your approach inspire each student to push themselves beyond their own perceived limits?

I teach many business and marketing classes. However, there are three classes that I really push students to their limit where they never knew. The three classes are Trends and Forecasting, Entrepreneurship, and Portfolio. Usually, students are not aware of their potential and in these three classes I see the light bulb go on.

What role does collaboration contribute to students' success, especially when students from other programs contribute to the same project?

One of the skills that the students should strengthen is collaboration. We try to prepare our students for real jobs and collaboration is a key to the success of teamwork.

In your opinion, what is the single most important thing you impart to your students to help them succeed in your class and in the real world? Alternatively, what is the most critical advice you would offer any student as he / she embarks on a creative career?

As all my students know, time management and on-time delivery is something I engrain in their mind.
