What was the inspiration for your artwork?

My Fall/Winter collection was designed for Senior Collection 1, 2 and 3. The concept of these classes was to design a 5 look collection, find our target market, source materials, create a technical package, render coquis, create technical flats, have a photo shoot with models, and create a final book for our portfolio.

What are we seeing in your work how did you go about your concept and process?

My collection was designed for the Japanese market. I incorporated practicality, modesty, and playful style while maintaining a high end feel! Three of my coats are multi-functional and can be worn more than one way, all the large areas of fur are removable, each coat has pockets 5+ inches deep, and every coat is a statement piece for any social event.

My coat designs where first hand drawn and edited. Then final drafts were rendered in Adobe Photoshop; Technical flats were made in Adobe Illustrator and the Technical package was made with a combination of Microsoft Excel and Adobe InDesign. My garments were all draped, patterned and mocked up. When all the corrections to the patterns were complete, I began sewing and lightly tailoring the fashion fabric! I spent hours hand slicing rabbit fur into strips to spin it into yarn, then weaving it for my coat collars and skirt. After my Senior Collection classes had ended, I went back and designed 5 under dresses, a pair of ear muffs and a fur hand warmer for my photo shoot.
