What was the inspiration for your work?
As I was attending my very last quarter at ILIS, I was trying to think of another section to add to my portfolio. I wanted to show off what I had done the last four years I had been in college. As a sports photographer and event photographer, when I started working with automotive products, I surprised myself. Working with this type of product, I could see so much potential in each image. To me, the cars each have their own personality. Different models of vehicles require different photographic strategies.
What we are seeing in your work how did you create it?
I have a couple of interior shots, one which has the logo on the seat. I was able to photograph this inside as a close-up. In other photographs, I photographed these vehicles outside during daylight hours. I carefully worked with the vehicle to get the sun in just the right spot. The Equinox photographs were shot on the same day, but I had waited for the sun to go down. I made the interior photograph of the radio on an overcast day. The image with Corvettes in line was taken early in the morning where the sun hadn’t been out that long. It was a day when the dew was still on the car. I wanted this shot to show the colors off, as they glistened in the sunlight. I used Photoshop to manipulate the images to bring up the contrast of each of them, and used a little bit of color correction.
