What was the inspiration for your artwork?

Throughout the photo program I realized a passion for portraiture photography, but struggled for a long time figuring out exactly what kind I enjoyed that would get me work, too. In the quarter before my last at Ai, I was one of the photographers at the annual Ai student fashion show. I had an absolute blast and for the first time in a long time, I was REALLY excited and proud of my work. When I started my final Portfolio class a few weeks later with a graphic design instructor, Andrew Sobol, one of the first conversations he led was about interesting ways to design and package your final portfolio. Inspired by his words and my fashion show experience, I decided to conceptualize and create a fashion magazine to display my final portfolio pieces that I wanted to market to the world! Over 11 weeks, I curated shoots and designed a 50-page magazine including these pieces. The magazine was to showcase different fashion brands and my ability to highlight each piece individually.

Please explain what we are seeing in your pieces and how you went about creating them.

I found each of my models by posting about my project on Facebook and then worked collaboratively with each individual to create a fashion shoot based on who they really were. The clothing and location for each person was completely based on their personalities, what they liked, and what clothes they had or wanted to get. I then selected the best images to put into magazine spreads, including these shown, and did editing work in Adobe Photoshop to make them pristine. Within the magazine are blurbs next to the images; the blurbs give a little insight into who each person is, what brands of clothing they are wearing, and even why they are wearing those brands.

How can people find out more about you and your artwork?
